Each model is tested for at least 6 months under field conditions before it goes into serial production. The utterly sturdy knife blades are primarily made of the frequently approved 1095 carbon steel and protected against corrosion with a special abrasion-resistant powder coating (developed especially for TOPS). This so-called traction coating has passed the particularly demanding salt spray test of the US Military for 7 days. Due to the sturdiness and reliability, TOPS knives are particularly appreciated as important items of equipment by the Allied Forces in present areas of crisis.
